Screen Filler / Pin Hole Fixer
Screen Filler, also known as Pinhole Fixer, is a specialised product used to address pinholes and imperfections in Screen Mesh. Pinholes are tiny openings that can occur in the mesh due to factors like dust, debris, or inconsistencies in the screen coating process. These pinholes can cause unwanted dots or imperfections in the final print.
It's worth noting this is not for use as part of a Screen Filler / Drawing Fluid method.
What does it do?
Screen Filler acts as a sealant that fills and covers these pinholes, creating a smooth and continuous surface on the screen. By doing so, it prevents ink from seeping through the pinholes during the printing process, ensuring a clean and accurate transfer of ink onto the substrate.
In addition to fixing pinholes, screen filler can also be used as a blockout agent. If there are specific areas in the design where you don't want ink to pass through the screen, you can apply screen filler to those areas. This blocks the ink from reaching those portions of the screen, effectively "blocking out" those areas during printing.
Perfect for Screen Printers
Screen Filler is a great tool to have in your print studio, we always check our screens after exposing them and touch up with Screen Filler if needed. It is a cost-effective and convenient solution for screen printers to address minor mesh issues and make quick touch-ups without the need to replace the entire screen.
How to apply
Applying Screen Filler or Pin Hole Fixer is a straightforward process that requires minimal tools and effort. Spread a small amount over the Pin Hole on the print side of the Screen, making sure to remove any surplus Screen Filler. Depending on the Pinhole and if it's a lower mesh count, a second coat maybe required on the squeegee side. Ensure that the Screen is dry before application and afterwards before re-suing the screen.
